In Katie's words: Lee and I met exactly 6 years ago in college in a small town in Southern Illinois. When I graduated, I attempted to look at jobs in Southern Illinois so that I could stay close to lee, but I was unsuccessful. I ended up applying for jobs elsewhere and was offered a job in Phoenix, AZ. Lee was so supportive of me and told me I had to take the job. Because Lee is in the military, he was unable to move with me or he would lose the funding for his student loans. I had planned to live in Phoenix for one year and then move home to be with him, but I immediately fell in love with Phoenix. Lee knew how much I loved it here in Arizona, so after a year of long distance, he quit his job in sales and did an out of state transfer for the military. I was shocked that he took such a leap of faith knowing that this meant his loans would no longer be paid for, but I'm so glad he did. He has been here in Phoenix with me for over 2.5 years now and we couldn't be happier. We plan to stay in Phoenix long term and although it was a winding path to get here, we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Sometimes things don't work out how we want them to, they work out even better than we could ever have imagined. Congratulations on your engagement!
